If the funds have been frozen or there are insufficient funds, please refer to the Frequently Asked Questions;<\/li>\n<li>The manner in which the funeral home will require payment and how\/when payment is required to be made; and<\/li>\n<li>Whether the deceased has funeral insurance or a pre-paid funeral plan.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div class=\"number\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"margin-right: 10px;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.abkj.com.au\/images\/3.png\" alt=\"3\" \/><\/div>\n<h3>Contact the beneficiaries<\/h3>\n<p>Provide them with a copy of the Will and inform them that you are in the process of administering the estate. As a guide, straightforward estates take between 6 \u2013 12 months to administer.<\/p>\n<div class=\"number\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"margin-right: 10px;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.abkj.com.au\/images\/4.png\" alt=\"4\" \/><\/div>\n<h3>Collate a list of assets and liabilities and determine what action is required.<\/h3>\n<p>In particular, consider the following:<\/p>\n<h4>Assets<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>Does the deceased have any bank accounts?<\/li>\n<li>Does the deceased own any properties?<\/li>\n<li>Does the deceased own any shares?<\/li>\n<li>Does the deceased have an accommodation bond with a nursing home?<\/li>\n<li>Is the deceased a shareholder in a company?<\/li>\n<li>Is the deceased a beneficiary of a trust?<\/li>\n<li>Does the deceased have any insurance policies?<\/li>\n<li>Does the deceased have any superannuation?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>Liabilities<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>Does the deceased have a mortgage?<\/li>\n<li>Does the deceased owe any money to another person or organisation (i.e. a personal or car loan)?<\/li>\n<li>Does the deceased have a credit card?<\/li>\n<li>Does the deceased have any direct debit arrangements?<\/li>\n<li>Does the deceased have any outstanding tax invoices such as medical bills?<\/li>\n<li>Is the deceased up-to-date with his\/her tax obligations?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div class=\"number\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"margin-right: 10px;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.abkj.com.au\/images\/5.png\" alt=\"5\" \/><\/div>\n<h3>Attend to the distribution of the estate.<\/h3>\n<p>In particular, consider the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Has six (6) months passed since the deceased passed away? If no, have you obtained written consent from each of the beneficiaries to distribute the estate prior to expiry of the six (6) month period (refer to the Frequently Asked Questions)?<\/li>\n<li>Have you received notification from a beneficiary of their intention to file a Family Provision Application?
