Kathryn Schmidt

Kathryn Schmidt | Solicitor

Kathryn holds a Bachelor of Laws and a Bachelor of Arts (Communications and Philosophy) from Bond University.

Kathryn became a Gold Coast local in 2014 when she moved from Cairns to attend Bond University on a prestigious Corporate Scholarship. She has since become a well-established member of the Gold Coast community; and is actively engaged in a number of local organisations and networks such as the Gold Coast District Law Association, the Gold Coast Junior Chamber of Commerce and Queensland Youth Parliament, where she holds the position of Executive Committee member.

Prior to joining ABKJ Lawyers, Kathryn gained experience in planning law and litigation at one of the largest law firms in the Asia Pacific region. Kathryn joined ABKJ Lawyers as a Solicitor in 2018 and now practises primarily in the areas of body corporate law, estate law and civil litigation. Kathryn believes that effective communication, empathy and collaboration are important elements of modern legal practice.

Kathryn is committed to supporting the Gold Coast community and contributes to a variety of pro-bono projects, including the UNICEF Australia GoodWILL Project and the Cancer Council Free Will Service. She is an avid writer and contributor to the ABKJ blog, having authored articles relating to Airbnb, Afterpay, My Health Record, intestacy, sham contracting, labour hire licensing and a range of other topics.
